Who we are and what we do

About us

What started out in a Staffordshire garage in 2017 has now become one of the largest 3D print manufacturers in the UK, serving customers from across the globe.

Still privately held and centrally located in  the UK, in Stone, Staffordshire, Midlands 3D has grown rapidly. This was further fuelled by the acquisition of Lancashire 3D in 2019 bringing greater capacity and access to a broader range of technologies.

After a series of significant investments in Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology from market leaders, HP, plus the continual evolution of our FDM batch production, SLA and large format capabilities, we are able to support customer demands from prototypes to batch production in a range of materials.

Our manufacturing floor runs 24/7, offering the shortest possible lead times and maximum flexibility.

Midlands 3D, First 3D Printer

In 2022 we both grew our MJF print capability and gained our HP Multi Jet Fusion Professional certification. Joining the HP Digital Manufacturing Network at the same time also now enables our global customers to partner with us with confidence and to manufacture close to their UK points of consumption.

In 2023 were also proud to be awarded ISO 9001 certification, the globally recognised Quality Management Systems (QMS) standard.

A consultative approach at Midlands 3D

In his former career, founder and Managing Director Paul Moloney, spent over a decade in business consulting with a global consulting firm. He now brings that business acumen and consultative approach into the relationships he and the team build with our customers. He often works with them to evolve both designs and business processes to deliver maximum benefit in adopting this technology.

Whether you have a 3D model ready to go, or need help to realise your idea we’re here to guide you through the process.  Our engineers are happy to provide guidance and advice on your project end to end.

Sustainable Growth

As our business continues to grow we are committed to reducing our impact on the planet. While studies have indicated that 3D Printing has a greatly reduced environmental impact that alternate technologies, we want to do more.

We joined the Ecologi community in 2022 actively contributing to projects which cut CO2 emissions, and are actively working toward becoming certified against ISO 14001 – the international standard for environmental management systems (EMS).

Delivering a competitive edge on and off  the track

Midlands 3D have been a technical sponsor of West Surrey Racing in the British Touring Car Championships (BTCC) since 2023.

We collaborate with the team to design and produce over 100 parts in and around their fleet of BMW 330e hybrid racers, each part delivering a unique, competitive edge over their rivals.

It’s a great analogy for how we like to work with all our customers.

Professionalism, teamwork, collaboration and responsibility. These are the values we live by at Midlands 3D and you should expect when working with us.
